From Farm to Table

Sweet corn, juicy tomatoes, and other farm fresh veggies are abundant right now, so watch for roadside stands all over the area. If you’re just visiting or don’t like to cook, try the menus at some of our locally owned cafes and diners. You’ll probably find home grown items in their delicious recipes.

Ken Tucker, owner of The Lunch Box on Long Hollow Pike in Gallatin, has been buying produce from a farmer just down the road from his restaurant. At Greenberry’s Deli on the Gallatin square, Jason Nunley is using heirloom tomatoes & herbs from his own organic garden as well as buying from Tennessee farmers. Link to their websites or find their daily specials on Facebook.

What a great way to help local farmers, offer fresher food to their customers, and contribute to our local economy and our environment. It takes partnerships like these to sustain community business and commerce.

Take a few minutes to shop at one of those roadside stands for your supper ingredients. Remember to check out the Saturday farmer’s market at Hendersonville’s Streets of Indian Lake lifestyle center. The brand new Gallatin Farmer’s Market will open very soon.

From farm to table…it doesn’t get much fresher and healthier than buying locally.
