What does July mean to you? For me, July in Tennessee brings thoughts of lazy summer days, family picnics, firecrackers, and vacations. Childhood memories of hand cranked homemade peach ice cream, picking wildflowers and blackberries (oh, those chiggers…ok, not every memory is a good one).

We celebrated independence for our country, but us kids mostly celebrated being out of school till fall. Cookouts on the 4th with hot dogs, burgers, my mama’s potato salad and cold sweet tea or lemonade, then croquet and horseshoes kept us busy until the fireworks started after dark.    (Read more)
