Gallatin & Castalian Springs
Gallatin
Enjoy a leisurely walk around the county seat of Gallatin. While exploring, stop by
Trousdale Place, listed on Tennessee's Civil War Trail. Directly behind this historic landmark you can stop in at the
Sumner County Museum to see artifacts from the county's 200 year history.
Visit Gallatin’s historic square to browse local antique and gift
shops. Enjoy lunch or a coffee break in one of the local eateries on the square.
During the weekend, enjoy watching a movie at The Palace Theater. Although the theater shows current movies, it is the oldest silent movie theater in the South.
Plan ahead - Gallatin’s Main Street Festival is the first Saturday in October. Spend the day on the square enjoying live music and local artisans. In the evening take the Gallatin City Cemetery Candlelight Tour. Actors in period clothing tell the story of Sumner County’s most colorful characters who are buried in the cemetery.
Castalian Springs
In Castalian Springs, visit historic
Cragfont. See the first ballroom in Tennessee, and envision yourself dancing at the lively parties attended by many well-known historical personalities.
Bring your picnic basket to
Bledsoe’s Fort Historical Park, the site of one of the earliest settlements in Sumner County.
Don’t miss a tasty dessert at
Red Chief Orchard. Their cider and fried apple pies are out of this world!
